Austria’s modern wine culture was reshaped after 1985, when stricter laws and a renewed emphasis on origin brought regional vineyards and varieties back into focus. In Wagram, deep loess soils provide the principal stronghold of Roter Veltliner, a rare white grape unrelated to Grüner Veltliner despite its name. Both Veltliners appear here alongside Zweigelt, across white, orange, sparkling, rosé and red wines.
