Ahearne Vino

With a career in wine spanning over 25 years, Londoner, Jo Ahearne is not just one of only 124 – or so - women MW, she is also an oenologist, having completed a winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University in Australia.
She has worked with iconic wineries – Charles Melton, Pipers Brook, Hardy’s Tintara, Jacob’s Creek to name but a few – and retail environments around the globe, starting with Oddbins, then blending awarding-winning wines for Marks and Spencer before heading up the wine team at the luxury retailer, Harrods.
She passed the notoriously difficult Master of Wine qualification in 2008. Eventually the call back to winemaking became too strong and she took the next step as an independent winemaking consultant working in France, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Macedonia. After travelling the world, Jo decided to make her own wine, Ahearne Vino, in Hvar in the gorgeous, hill village of Vrisnik.
