About the Wine

Assyrtiko, Greece’s emblematic white grape and a variety originally from Santorini, is grown here in the high-altitude vineyards of Nemea in the Peloponnese.

Less austere than the powerful style associated with Santorini, this expression emphasizes citrus, ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and subtle mineral character. It is light, vibrant, and approachable while retaining the variety’s distinctive identity.

About the Vineyard

The grapes come from semi-mountainous vineyards in Koutsi, Nemea, at 450–550 metres above sea level. The sloping sites face predominantly south and southwest.

The soils consist of clay-rich topsoil over limestone bedrock, with high calcium-carbonate content, little organic matter, and good drainage.

The vines are rigorously pruned to restrict yields. Elevation and marked day–night temperature differences help preserve acidity, aromatic definition, and freshness in Nemea’s warm climate.

Winemaking

After harvest, the grapes are cooled to approximately 4°C, destemmed, and gently pressed.

The juice is fermented with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then matured in stainless steel, without the use of oak.

Careful protection from oxidation preserves Assyrtiko’s citrus character, fresh acidity, and mineral clarity.

Tasting Notes
